A recent major study by S&P Global, in collaboration with the Institute of Energy Economics, Japan (IEEJ) and other partners, concludes that a 1.5°C warming target is no longer achievable, given expectations for economic and energy demand growth in the developing economies and datacenter growth in the advanced economies. Limiting global warming to 2oC by end of the century is increasingly challenging but still feasible - if emissions reduction is prioritized over other objectives.

This private roundtable will convene senior leaders to discuss the results of the study and the implications of shifting from a global Net Zero 2050 / 1.5oC goal to a more realistic 2oC benchmark with different regions/countries following very different emissions trajectories.
